What is FD Calculator
An FD calculator is a simple online tool that does all the complex calculations to determines the amount one will get upon investing in a fixed deposit (FD) upon maturity. This tool takes into account the deposit amount, the FD tenure, and the current fixed deposit rate for the specified tenure.
How can an FD calculator help you?
- FD maturity calculations are complicated given the number of variables. Calculating fixed deposits is easy with a fixed deposit calculator, which automates all of the work for you.
- You can save a lot of time performing these complex calculations using it.
- Comparing the maturity amount and interest rate of various fixed deposits can be done using a fixed deposit return calculator. When you have all of the numbers at your disposal, you can make an informed conclusion.
Formula to determine FD maturity amount
You can choose between two types of FDs: basic interest FDs and compound interest FDs. StockDaddy offers FD calculators for both types.
This formula is used by our fixed deposit calculator for simple interest FD-
M = P + (P x r x t/100), where –
- P= Principal amount
- R= Rate of interest per annum
- T= Tenure in years
For example, if you deposit Rs. 1,000,000 for 5 years at 10% interest, the equation is as follows:
M = 1,000X ({[1 +0.01 ]^{12} – 1} / 0.01) x (1 + 0.01)
M= Rs. 1,00,000 + (1,00,000 x 10 x 5/100)= Rs. 1,50,000
For compound interest FD
M= P + P {(1 + i/100) t – 1}, where –
- P= Principal amount
- i= Rate of interest per period
- t= Tenure
